Bulbourne River Restoration

River restoration along the Bulbourne to create a more natural chalk stream

The Environment Agency, Box Moor Trust and Chilterns Chalk Streams Project worked in partnership to restore a section of the R. Bulbourne at Box Moor near Hemel Hempstead. The project involved river channel narrowing, habitat creation, bank re-grading, access improvement & fencing. The river restoration works, funded and managed by the Environment Agency, was carried out by Five Rivers Environmental Contracting. The Project began on 9th January 2017 and took 3 weeks to complete. Fencing and further wetland creation will took place later in 2017.
