“Our River” Films
Funded by Smarter Water Catchment Project the CCSP education team have produced a series of films with local schools.
This program aimed to educate Key Stage 2 children from schools near the River Chess about the river’s ecosystem, history, and human impacts. Through repeat visits, interactive sessions, and creative activities, students gained a deeper understanding of the river and its environment. The films produced will serve as a resource for other schools studying rivers and habitats.
Objectives of the project include
- To enhance students’ knowledge of the River Chess, its flora, fauna, and environmental importance.
- Create a sense of connection and responsibility for their local environment.
- To encourage students to express their understanding through creative skills
- To collaboratively create a film that showcases both the river and the students’ creativity.
We have worked with two schools so far.
Rickmansworth Park JMI school produced a film about human impacts on the River Chess as this was relevant to them and their area of learning.
Chenies Primary school have also produced a film to fit in with their curriculum learning on rivers. The script they developed is informative but also has a humorous side to it! We hope other schools that may not be able to visit a river can use as a resource in their learning.
