Riverfly monitoring: Guided walk and survey of the River Bulbourne

Everyone is welcome to this event organized by the Chilterns Chalk Streams Project – CCSP (https://www.chilternstreams.org/ ). Adults, children and teenagers welcome, whether they are experienced in Riverfly or not. 

You will learn about river ecology and the importance of chalk streams such as the Bulbourne. On the day we will be having a short walk along the Bulbourne (Dacorum, Hertfordshire) and we will survey for riverflies.

You can tag along and just watch and listen or you can bring your wellies and give it a go at collecting sample in the (shallow) water of the river. We will then try to identify the 8 target species.

Come along if you are already interested in chalk streams and riveflies and join us if you don’t know anything but you are curious about what riverfly monitoring is!
